SCHOOL CALENDAR CHANGES
All the rough winter
weather recently has wreaked havoc upon every type of schedule
within the schools, and especially the overall school calendar.
Please mark these changes on your copy of
that yellow calendar that came home at the beginning of the
school year. Changed days are all Fridays and they will ALL now
be Full Days of School: March 6, March 13, March 20, May 1, May
8, and May 22.

A
FEW EXTRA BISON FLAGS AVAILABLE
A good way to show your Bison spirit
would be to get a Bison porch flag.
There are about
8 extras.
A color picture of it is posted at the top of this web
page.
The nice part about these
flags is that they are good for all seasons, all sports, and
“just because” you want to show your "Bison Pride".
Contact the school at 367-2128 to purchase one at
$29.00.
Contact Susan Boore for more information. ALSO; IF YOU
ORDERED ONE AND HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED IT, CALL THE SCHOOL.
NOTE: They will be available to purchase at
the 2nd Grades' Used Book Sale.

CHECK GRADES ON EDLINE.NET
Students grades can be checked online at
www.edline.net
Activation
codes from last year continue to work for this year if your
child was at Barrackville School. If you did not receive
an activation code or have forgotten your screen name/password,
contact school counselor, Susan Boore. If
your child was not at Barrackville last year, you
will need to get new log in information for this school.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: DON’T
BRING “TOUCH” TO SCHOOL
The
newest high-tech gadget that “Santa” brought a number of good
little boys and girls in the area was the new Apple “i-Pod
Touch”. Not only is
it an expensive item, and one that can be used to listen to ones
favorite music and play games; it can be used to check email,
text message, store YouTube videos and access the Internet.
For all
of those reasons, it has been decided that “i-Pod Touch’s”
SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL.
If they are found, first offense, they will be turned
into the office.
Further occasions will warrant more severe measures.
FREE TEXT
ALERTS
FOR
SCHOOL
NOTICES
Technology is now providing another way for
parents and schools to be more closely connected. How would you
as a parent like to receive text messages on your cell phone
and/or emails from your child’s school to alert you to school
delays and/or closings? How about reminders of things like
school picture day, IS days or early release days, or major
school events or programs?
How about, heaven forbid a school emergency or
lock-down?
Welcome to the "free"
MySchoolAlerts,
a state-of-the-art messaging and emergency notification system
for all schools in
North America.
Sponsored by American Income Life, this is a free
service that they provide to schools. Barrackville School is now registered with this valuable
service. A link to it can be found on
the webpage for posted delays and closures through the West
Virginia Department of Education.
Or you can click on it's logo at the top of this web page.
Just go to the web site;
http://www.alerts.com/MySchoolAlerts; or
click on the logo above, and click on the “Get Started Now”
button. Before you click on that button, you can read more about
the program.
When you go on to the next page, click on “West Virginia” in the first space and
then start typing in the second box, “Barrackville
Elementary/Middle School Barrackville 26559-0150”.
After both boxes are filled, click on “Find
Your School”.
After that, follow all the directions that lead
parents to opt into receiving the types of messages you wish to
have: emails and/or (better yet) text messages.
The nice thing about receiving text messages rather
than email is that most people carry their cell phones with them
most all of the time and check that more frequently during the
day than their email.
Take your time to sign up today, you’ll be
glad you did!
If you have any trouble signing up, contact Susan
Boore at
Barrackville
School at 367-2128.
